Energy Audit Elements
A blower door test is used to quantify the amount of air leakage your house is experiencing, and locate the leaks. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, air leakage through the building envelope can increase heating & cooling costs by as much as 30%. In addition to wasting money, air infiltration also causes drafts, excessive indoor dust, and discomfort.
To test the leakiness of your HVAC ducts, we use a Duct Blaster. This test, like the blower door test, allows us to quantify the amount of leakage, and pinpoint the leaks. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that 80% of all homes in America have excessive duct leakage.
Infrared cameras are able to detect heat, and temperature variations behind sheetrock, paneling, stucco, and other materials. This makes them indispensable in locating hidden thermal bypasses, missing insulation, and moisture infiltration.
