Duct Sealing in the Home
Ducts are designed to carry the conditioned air from the blower assembly to the interior of your home, and back again. Well sealed ductwork is essential to making a home efficient, safe, and comfortable.
When ducts are located in unconditioned spaces (attics), leaks are extremely detrimental. Leaks on the supply side, waste money by blowing the conditioned air into the attic. This typically puts the house under negative pressure, which creates more air infiltration.
Leaks on the return side draw hot/humid attic air into the system, along with it dust, insulation fibers, and other pollutants. In our humid climate, leaks on the return side can also overwhelm the dehumidification capacity of the air conditioning system, causing the indoor air to feel clammy.
